The greenest building is the one already standing. Rather than demolish, we transformed a two-storey brutalist structure into a striking, sustainable workplace. Now targeting a 6-Star Green Star rating from the New Zealand Green Building Council.
Inspired by the Environment
Elevated above the ridgeline, 137 Great North Road draws its design language from the misty clouds that hover above the treetops. The building’s custom aluminium screen, perforated with droplet-like patterns, wraps the upper levels and works to control the solar rays while framing views out to the surrounding landscape.
Crafted for Comfort
Inside, reclaimed timber brings warmth and character throughout. With especially selected materials, from paint to panelling, chosen to support occupant health, minimise environmental impact, and meet rigorous acoustic standards for a calm, productive workplace.
The ground-floor retail/showroom enjoys prime street presence, while upper floors offer filtered glimpses to the east through plane tree branches out to Maungawhau/Mt Eden, and an open sightline west to the Waitematā. A new top floor balcony provides the perfect spot for both social gatherings and Friday drinks, or quiet retreats and moments of reflection.
